Railroad employees face unique challenges on the job, and understanding the Federal Employers’ Liability Act is important for ensuring the protection of their rights.

FELA provides a legal avenue for compensation when injuries occur due to employer negligence. Some common situations can form the basis of a solid FELA claim.

1. Unsafe working conditions

Railroaders often encounter hazardous working conditions that can lead to serious injuries. If an employee can demonstrate that their injury resulted from unsafe working conditions caused by the employer’s negligence, they may have a strong FELA claim. Examples include poorly maintained equipment, lack of safety protocols, or inadequate training.

2. Failure to provide adequate safety equipment
